The Ask

My partner Julian and I created 'In Real Life' app in response to an app sprint prompt from Cassie McDaniels, Creative Director at Medium.com. She challenged us to design a digital solution that would encourage healthful practice without becoming addictive. We chose to explore a conversational coaching app.

The Challenge

Design a digital coach that serves as an antidote to the culture of isolation fueled by addictive technology. The goal: create an experience that encourages users to go outside and engage in real-life interactions—without becoming addictive itself.

The Outcome

In our round one sprint, we validated our conversational coach design with users, who described it as both motivating and helpful.
