I'm excited to share this speculative design project, hatched and refined with my design collaborator Julian.

How effective could it be to have a digital coach help you overcome social anxiety? Can conversational AI have a positive impact and encourage healthy habit building without becoming addictive? 

In this and the following posts, we explore a conversational AI coach as a tool that nudges you to put down your phone and interact in real life. We tested a conversational prompt offering simple first steps that empower you to engage in daily, real-life interactions.

This project began as a design response to a sprint challenge posed by Cassie McDaniels, Head of Design at Medium.com.

Design Prompt: "How might we design an app that helps reinforce a beneficial behavior—like walking, connecting with friends, or limiting sugar—while preventing addictive use patterns such as infinite scroll? "
